We have developed a video titled "PVC Load Test" to prove that a single hub on our 16' PVC dome can support the full weight of a person.
The total static weight that can be supported over the entire dome is much greater than any snow load it will have to support, as snow does not accumulate on a round roof
For this reason, we have a 2 year guarantee to replace any dome damaged by snow load.
The reason we can guarantee our domes against damage by snow loads is that the shape of a geodesic dome naturally sheds snow.
Notice from this picture of a large geodesic dome in Antarctica, that there is no snow on the top of the dome.
In this next picture, one of our Zip Tie Domes is being used as a Geodesic Ice Fishing Hut on a frozen lake. Notice again that there is not a large snow load on the top of the dome.
Inside the Zip Tie Dome
The shape of the geodesic dome allows the wind to help naturally shed snow from the dome. This is why we have customers using Zip Tie Domes in Alaska and other extreme environments. No other structure will handle snow better than a geodesic dome.
The Eskimos build their Igloos in a dome shape for the same reason: A Dome is the strongest and best shape for handling snow!
We guarantee our domes for a full replacement for 2 years against any snow load, because we believe our dome and hub design is stronger than any snow load you will have.
And after 2 years, if your dome is destroyed by an avalanche or freak of nature, we will be glad to work with you to correct the problem in a reasonable manner. We have had very few negative results from our customers concerning snow damage, and all damaged parts were quickly replaced.
No "sale" is ever "complete" for us, you will always be our customer, and we will always take care of any problem you have with our product.
